Creative Community Childcare

Director of Creative Community Childcare, Dianne Spittler (left), and staff members Kayleigh Papaleo (center) and Harley Coburn (right) are excited to welcome children to their new daycare facility in downtown Milford.

Parents seeking quality, affordable child care will be happy to know there is a new option available in downtown Milford. Creative Community Childcare (CCC) is a brand new daycare center committed to providing fun and exciting toddler, preschool and after school care programs with an emphasis on flexibility to meet the needs of parents and children. Dianne Spittler is thrilled to be the center's director. With a master's degree in Early Childhood Education and over 20 years in the daycare field, Spittler says CCC's goal is "to provide the best quality center, but also to be the most reasonably priced and flexible."
CCC is located in the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Milford (FUUM), operating independently of the church. With large windows extending into the center's basement level location, sun shines on the hardwood floors in the large main room. The space provides ample opportunity for activities to get the kids moving. Down the hall, the toddler room is a cheerful space accommodating eight toddlers and two teachers. The nearby preschool room holds up to 16 children and two teachers. The spaces are bright and welcoming with a variety of things to capture any child's attention, such as interactive toys, blocks, crafts, dramatic play areas and cozy reading corners.
A fenced in playground provides outdoor learning centers along with plenty of old fashioned opportunities for making mud pies. "One of the things I'd like to achieve with this center is to make it as nature-centered as possible," says Spittler. A garden will soon be added where children can grow vegetables for the FUUM's weekly community suppers. Spittler also plans to take advantage of the downtown location with trips to the nearby library, fire department, post office and Fino Field.
Spittler is proud of the CCC staff, which includes one bilingual staff member who writes and speaks Spanish. She describes the teachers as kind, nurturing, well-qualified individuals who love working with children.
Security is a high priority, with keypad access required for entrance. An elevator lift provides easy entry for disabled visitors.
CCC offers three tiers of tuition, including a public rate, a church rate (for FUUM parishioners), and an income eligible rate. Spittler stresses that anyone experiencing financial hardship may be considered for the lower rate, whether or not they qualify for government assistance.
CCC is located at 23 Pine Street in Milford, across from Morin's Studio, with free parking. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. through 6 p.m., with full and half day options and after school care.
