The Little Coffee Bean

Ready to serve customers at The Little Coffee Bean in Upton are, l-r, Denise McGrath,
owner Pete Keefe, and Cheryl Bryan.

As the sign outside The Little Coffee Bean says, this Upton eatery offers "Bagels, Gourmet Coffee and More,"—much more. With a delicious assortment of breakfast sandwiches, donuts, pastries, lunchtime sandwiches, salads and homemade soups and chowder, it's a great spot for breakfast or lunch.
Owner Pete Keefe opened The Little Coffee Bean in Upton nearly 14 years ago, and quickly developed a loyal following of customers who wouldn't think of stopping anywhere else for their daily coffee. Some stay and enjoy their food and drink while visiting with other customers in the convenient seating area. Others appreciate the quick service that allows them to get in and out with fresh items to enjoy on the road.
The 14 varieties of breakfast sandwiches on the menu are a clear favorite among customers. Only fresh eggs are used here, rather than the pre-packaged liquid egg products used at many restaurants. "The quality is unbelievable," says Keefe, and customers appreciate that. The freshly baked muffins and pastries are a hit as well.
For those who need their coffee fix in the morning, there are plenty of options available here. New England Coffee Company products are featured, with 13 hot flavors and 15 cold flavors offered daily. "People just love our coffee. It's a great blend," says Keefe.
The lunch offerings include a wide variety of healthy sandwiches and wraps served with an assortment of side salads made fresh daily. The homemade chicken salad and seafood salad are particularly popular, along with the award winning "chowda". Specials are posted daily, and menus show a host of other options. And for those who don't find their favorite sandwich listed, special orders are welcome. "Anything a customer has had here once, they can have again, whenever they want it," says Keefe.
Keefe enjoys the family feel of his restaurant. "We know all our customers," says Keefe. The customers appreciate the hometown feel of the place, and the personal service they get from the staff members, many of whom have worked here for years and know their customers' orders by heart. So whether it's for a delicious breakfast, a hearty lunch, or a freshly brewed "cup of Joe", The Little Coffee Bean is a favorite destination for many.
The Little Coffee Bean is located at 113 Main St., (Route 140) in the Upton Plaza. Hours are Monday to Friday 4:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. For further information, call 508-529-2161.
