    UPTON-The Upton Bloomer Girl’s is now accepting applications for the 2019 Upton Bloomer’s Girl Fall Fair (previously The Upton Woman’s Club Fair) being held on Saturday, November 2 at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, 65 Pleasant St., Upton, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is the biggest and best fair in Upton, and a wonderful opportunity to tap into the pre-holiday shopping crowd. Vendors are invited to sell crafts, products and services. Booth spaces are limited and accepted on a first come basis.

  • Knights of Columbus Foxwoods Trip

    MILFORD-The Knights of Columbus Valencia Council 80
    is sponsoring a Foxwoods trip on Friday, June 21. The bus will leave the municipal parking lot across from Sacred Heart Church, Milford, at 4 p.m. and leave Foxwoods at 11 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and includes transportation, a $10 food voucher or free buffet and $10 in slot plays. Anyone interested in attending must reserve a spot by Friday, June 14, by calling James Burke at 508-478-9813. The trip is open to anyone age 21 and above. Proceeds will benefit the St. Paul’s Boiler Fund.

    GRAFTON-On Friday, July 5, fireworks of a different sort will be set off on the Grafton Common with a communal reading of Frederick Douglass’s impassioned 1852 speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” at 6 p.m. Douglass, an advisor to President Lincoln, urged his audience to consider the legacy of slavery and how race affects the American social contract. The reading is part of a series of events supported in part by Mass Humanities.

  • Red Sox Tickets to Help the Mendon Legion Post

    MENDON-Mendon’s American Legion Commander Susan Tetreault is offering two tickets to the Saturday, July 27 Red Sox-Yankee game to raise funds to renovate the Roger L. Woods American Legion Post, 13 Milford St. (Rt. 16), Mendon. Tetreault needs to raise a total of $20,000 for the overhaul measure.
    Seats are located in the Pavilion Reserve Section just after the first base side, Section 15, Row G. The cost is $10 for one raffle ticket and $20 for three; 100 tickets must be sold for the raffle to take place. Monies will be returned if the minimum sale is not met.
