  • Civilian Conservation Camp Open House

    Visitors to Upton State Forest may wonder about the barracks style building and the grassy rectangular area in front of it.  These are remnants of the Civilian Conservation Corps camp active at Upton State Forest in the 1930s.  Join the Friends of Upton State Forest and DCR at the open house on August 20 and September 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. to see what’s inside the building and to learn more about the CCC and what they did. 
    Upton State Forest CCC Headquarters is located at 205 Westboro Road in Upton.  For additional information, please call 508-278-7604.

  • Knights of Columbus Foxwoods Trip

    MILFORD-The Knights of Columbus Valencia Council 80 is sponsoring a Foxwoods trip on Friday, September 8. The bus will leave the municipal parking lot across from Sacred Heart Church, Milford, at 4 p.m. and leave Foxwoods at 11 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and includes transportation, a free buffet and $10 in slot plays. Anyone interested in attending must reserve a spot by September 1 by calling James Burke at 508-478-9813. The trip is for anyone age 21 and above. Proceeds will benefit the Council’s Scholarship Fund.

  • Milford High Class of 1962 Reunion

    MENDON-The Milford High School, Class of 1962, will hold its 55th class reunion on Saturday, September 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Imperial Room, 18 Uxbridge Rd (Rt. 16), Mendon.
    The theme is Record Hop, so jeans, casual attire and poodle skirts are welcome. A buffet dinner will be offered complete with ice cream sundae bar; Ron Auger will provide music for dancing; and a raffle will be held. Spouses and guests are invited.
