Three Contests, 3 Questions on November 6 Ballot

Milford's voters will choose candidates for three contested races-President and Vice President of the United States, Senator in Congress and Representative in Congress-and decide on three ballot questions when they go the polls on Tuesday, November 6.

Town Clerk Amy Hennessy Neves said interest in the three race and three ballot questions should boost voter turnout to the polls. "I'm hoping so," she commented. A total of 605 people registered as new voters since the September 6 Massachusetts Primary Election, boosting the total number in Milford by 3.5 percent to 17,804.

There are four separate political parties fielding candidates for President and Vice President. Voters will actually be choosing "electors" for these candidates who will vote in the Electoral College. The candidates are:

• Libertarian: Gary Johnson and James Gray

• Democratic: Barack Obama and Joseph Biden (incumbents)

• Republican: Willard Romney and Paul Ryan

• Green-Rainbow: Jill Stein and Cheri Honokaa

For U.S. Senator, incumbent Republican Scott Brown is facing a challenge from Democrat Elizabeth Warren. And, Republican Sean Bielat and Democrat Joseph Kennedy III are squaring off for the U.S. Representative seat being vacated by retiring Congressman Barney Frank.

The three ballot questions are:

• Question 1: Availability of Motor Vehicle Repair Information

• Question 2: Prescribing Medication to End Life

• Question 3: Medical Use of Marijuana

Uncontested offices on the ballot are:

• Governor's Council, Seventh District: Jennie Cassia

• State Senator for Worcester and Norfolk District: Richard Moore

• State Representative for Tenth Worcester District: John Fernandes

• Worcester County Clerk of Courts: Dennis McManus

• Worcester District Register of Deeds: Anthony Vigliotti

Voting will begin at 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following polling places:

• Precincts 1 and 4 – Milford Senior Center

• Precincts 2 and 3 – Italian-American War Veterans Hall

• Precincts 5,6,7 and 8 – Portuguese Club
