Races Shaping Up in April 1 Town Election

Voters will face three definite – Highway Surveyor, School Committee and Tax Collector – and two more possible contested races – Board of Library Trustees and Housing Authority – in the April 1 Town Election:

• Highway Surveyor: Incumbent Scott Crisafulli is being challenged for the three-year position by Shelly Leclaire, who previously held the position until she resigned in 2008 to run the office of construction company Carlo Molinari, Inc. in Medway. Crisafulli and Leclaire both have returned their nomination papers with sufficient signatures.

• School Committee: Four people have taken out nomination papers to run for the two available three-year seats: John Ericson, David Levine and Jennifer Parsons have returned their nomination papers with sufficient signatures. As of February 7, Joseph Callery had yet to return his nomination papers. Erickson is expected to announce that he is withdrawing from the race.

• Tax Collector: Theresa Diomedes Dias, who holds the position on an acting basis, and Melissa Alves-Tomas have both returned their nomination papers with sufficient signatures to run for the three-year position.

The two other possible races depend upon whether candidates who have taken out nomination papers returned them by the February 11 deadline:
