Three Offices Remain Without Candidates in Upton

Nearly all seats up for re-election in Upton's Annual Town Election are unchallenged with the incumbents again seeking re-election. However, three offices remain without candidates and include seats for the Finance Committee, Cemetery Commission, and Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds. The Town Election is scheduled for Monday, May 5.

Those seeking re-election include James Brochu for Board of Selectman for three years; Philip DeZutter for School Committee for three years; David Loeper for Moderator for one year; Richard Gazoorian for Recreation Commission for three years; Richard Desjardins for the Board of Health for three years; Paul Carey for Planning Board for five years; Teresa Ambrosino for Assessor of Taxes for three years; Charlotte Carr, Frances Gustman, and John Minnucci for Library Trustees for three years; and Richard Kenney for Housing Authority for five years.

The three elected offices, which have no candidates on the ballot, are the Finance Committee's three year seat, Karen Glowacki incumbent; the Cemetery Commission's three year seat, Richard Randall incumbent; and the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds three year seat, incumbent Americo Bianco.

The last day for residents to register to vote in the Town Election or the May 8 Annual Town Meeting is April 16. The Town Clerk's office will have extended hours that day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Residents with questions concerning their voter status should contact the Town Clerk's office by calling 508-529-3565 or emailing KMcElreath@uptonma.gov. The Town Clerk's office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office is closed on Fridays. The temporary Town Hall is currently located at 3 Milford St.

The May 5 Town Election will take place at Nipmuc Regional High School and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The May 8 Annual Town Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and take place at Nipmuc Regional High School, as well.
