Buckley, Kingkade Chose Different Job Applicant Again

For the second time last month, Selectmen William Buckley and William Kingkade ignored a recommended candidate and chose another finalist for a town position. On March 7, they hired Mark Veneziano over recommended candidate Paolo DeSouza to be the junior building custodian in the renovated Milford Youth Center. On March 21, they voted to hire Helena Doiron over the recommended Danielly Morais-Fonseca, to be a clerk in the Town Treasurer's office. Board Chairman Brian Murray opted both times to vote for the recommended candidates.

Town Administrator Richard Villani said 40 people applied for the position. Of them, 11 were viewed as candidates and then four of the 11 were brought back for second interviews. He noted the top candidate was only one point above the next finalist in the ranking system being used.

Buckley said Doiron, the person ranked one point lower than Morais-Fonseca, had 30 years of banking experience and spent 13 years in her then-current position. He voiced concern about Morais-Fonseca not spending more than 20 months in any position and being in her current position for only seven months. Kingkade added that Doiron had studied banking and finance at Babson College. Murray countered that Morais-Fonseca has been employed by the Town of Framingham in different positions since 2012.

The clerk's position pays $20.09 per hour and the starting date for employment was this past Monday.
