Upton Resident Celebrates 100 Years of Living

Lifelong Upton resident Dorothy Emino (in front with the corsage) celebrated her 100th birthday at the Upton Center surrounded by family and friends. Not everyone who walks into the Upton Center receives the applause and cheers that Dorothy Emino received on the afternoon of March 27. But then again, it isn't every day that someone turns 100 years old. Emino, a lifelong Upton resident, celebrated her birthday at the Upton Center among her family and friends and even a few dignitaries.

As the guest of honor prepared to make her entrance, guests at the Upton Center were all a buzz concerning two matters; just how young the 100-year-old looks and the fact that she's never colored her hair. "And she's sharp as a tack," exclaimed Upton Center Department Specialist Bernadette Denson. Van driver John Saulen said Emino's agility continues to amaze him when he picks her up. "She's out the door before I even pull into the driveway," he said.

Birthday party guests included Emino's close knit family of daughter Elinor and son-in-law Bob, daughter Janine and son-in-law Larry, and granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Chad. In addition, staff from the Upton Center as well many friends were in attendance.

State Senator Michael Moore, D. Millbury and State Rep. David Muradian, R. Grafton and Town Clerk and Assistant to the Town Manager Kelly McElreath were also there to present Emino citations. "We can all only hope to be as active as you are on our 100th birthdays," said the Senator. Moore also presented congratulatory citations from President Donald Trump and Governor Charlie Baker. Members of the Upton Historical Society even did a little research and presented Emino some historical information on her family.

Muradian stated he could not get over how great the birthday gal looked. "This is absolutely unbelievable," he said. "I'm looking for your ID because I can't believe you're 100." And McElreath summed up everyone's feelings, "Thank you for celebrating your birthday with us," she said to Emino,

Guests were treated to snacks and birthday cake and everyone enjoyed the songs of live music from the Trinity Big Band.
