Chorus Welcomes New Director and Pianist

Wayne Ward joins the Greater Milford Community Chorus as a new pianist.

The Greater Milford Community Chorus (GMCC) welcomes a new director as well as a new pianist to its ensemble: Dan Zabinski and Wayne Ward.

Uxbridge resident Dan Zabinski has filled the shoes of retired Don Thatcher in the role of the Greater Milford Community Chorus director. Zabinski has a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Boston University as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching Music Education from Rhode Island College.

Zabinski has an extensive resume working as a music director as well as a music teacher, teaching in public schools as well as teaching private instruction lessons since the 1970's. Zabinski was the music director for the Booth Community Theatre at Holy Name, directing various school musicals including "Hello Dolly," "Meet Me in Saint Louis," and "Guy and Dolls."

Along with directing musicals, Zabinski has worked as a choir director and organist at various churches in the Blackstone Valley area including: St Paul's Church, Blackstone; Saint Peter's Church Northbridge; and the Unitarian-Universalist Churches of Mendon and Uxbridge. Since 2007, Zabinski has worked as the music director at Saint Mary's Church in Uxbridge.

"It has been a pleasure for me as the Greater Milford Community Chorus President to get to know Dan and talk with him about the future of the chorus," says Greater Milford Community Chorus President, Linnea Silvia.

Holliston native Wayne Ward joins the Greater Milford Community Chorus as its new pianist. Wayne is a graduate of Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music; Ward also attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Ward's music career started as a teacher in New York where he later became a member of the music education department as faculty at Berklee College in Boston. Ward has been a part of the Berklee faculty for 35 years.

In addition to teaching, Ward worked as the resident music director at Turtle Lane Playhouse in Newton for 30 years. He also was the music director as well as assistant music director for the Longwood Opera Company located in Needham for more than 20 years. In 2007, Ward became the organist and choir director at Union Evangelical Church UCC in Hopedale.

"Our new pianist, Wayne Ward, has a love of music that is evident and contagious to all the members of our group," says Silvia.

The Greater Milford Community Chorus gives a big welcome to its new director and pianist.
