Learning How to Run the Commonwealth

State Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, center, recently welcomed Nipmuc Regional High School students Daniel Consigli, left, and Matthew D'Innocenzo to the State House for the 64th annual Student Government Day. Since 1947, Student Government Day has afforded students from across the Commonwealth an opportunity to take on the roles of governor, constitutional officers, legislators, and court justices to see what it is like to "run" the Commonwealth. Student Government Day is one of the nation's oldest and most interesting experiments in civic education and is conducted under the direction of the Massachusetts Department of Education and the Legislative Education Office.
