Massachusetts Banker Serves as ICBA Secretary

Wayne A. Cottle, president and CEO, Dean Bank, will continue to serve as secretary of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) from 2010-2011.

"I am honored to be elected to this position," Cottle said. "It gives me the great privilege to work on behalf of community banks across the nation that offer superb customer service and common-sense financial products, work on behalf of their communities and stick with their customers even during these challenging times."

Cottle was elected during the association's 2009 National Convention in Phoenix and has a long history with ICBA, having served as an at-large director on the Executive Committee and as the elected state director for Massachusetts on the ICBA Board of Directors. He has also been a member of the ICBA Congressional Affairs, Policy Development, Payments and Technology, and Education Committees and served as chairman of the ICBA Mutual Bank Council.

"Wayne is a dedicated community banker who is respected by his industry's peers," said incoming ICBA Chairman Jim MacPhee, CEO of Kalamazoo County State Bank, Schoolcraft, Mich. "We are delighted he will be generously offering his time and valuable professional talents to the service of the community banking industry."

ICBA is the only national trade association dedicated exclusively to promoting the interests of locally operated community banks and savings institutions.

Dean Bank, founded in 1889, is a Massachusetts state-chartered, mutually owned institution with assets in excess of $200 million. The bank has offices located in Franklin, Blackstone, Bellingham, and Mendon. As a member of both the FDIC and the SIF, all deposits are insured in full.
