Here it is that time of year when Christmas cheer is in the air, with bells ringing and lights twinkling. Young children with their rosy cheeks are looking at every toy in the toy section in every store you go into. Their hope above hope is that the man at the North Pole will put that special thing in his bag that gets loaded up in his sleigh. Yes, every child looks to see that magic man in the red suite with his bag of goodies come down the chimney, or show up somehow in front of the Christmas tree. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Class and he will check his list twice, making sure every girl and boy has not been naughty but has been nice.
Mom or Dad, make sure when you shop for those presents you give to each other that you do two things- the first is SHOP LOCAL - buy those things from merchants that advertise in this paper. The second thing you can do to help every unemployed person is check everything you buy for a "Made in America" label, and whenever you can, please buy those things that are made in America. It really does help create new jobs in America. Let's give somebody a great Christmas present next year by creating a job by buying Made in America gift items.
Please, if you have not, now is the time to go to our website and sign up for our Christmas Decoration contest (or send us an email with your name address and phone number). LET'S LIGHT UP THE NIGHT! We will stop by to look at your decorations and the winners will win prizes - but every entry will be in the photo album on our website after the judging is complete. Each town will have 2 winners - a business and a home. This is our small way of spreading some Christmas Cheer, and we want to thank our sponsors for their generous gifts as prizes: Edaville Railroad, Pepperoncini's, New England Steak and Seafood and Red Rock Grill and Bar.
We here at the Town Crier would like to wish every person in Upton, Mendon and Milford a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
That's looking out my window - looking forward to maybe this year catching a look at Santa Claus when goes for one of the cookies I leave for him.
May God Bless You and Yours One and All.
P.S. Don't forget to join the light contest.
