Blackstone Valley Tech boys lacrosse kicked off the 2012 season in fine fashion with an overtime win over Nashoba Valley Tech and has not looked back. The Beavers have rattled off five consecutive victories headed into this morning's rematch with Nashoba Tech. Valley Tech piled up 13 goals in a 13-4 route of Blue Hills, and has earned 6-4 wins over Tri-County and Southeastern as well as 5-2 win over Greater New Bedford. Valley Tech is first among the six independents in the state and has enjoyed a 4-0 start to the season on their home field in Upton.
The team hosts Nashoba Valley Tech on April 20 and Grafton on April 30. They travel to Assabet Valley on April 25 and to Tri County in Franklin on May 2.
The Nipmuc boys are locked up in the middle of the Mid Mass standings. The Warriors 2-2 league mark has them a game ahead of Shepherd Hill and Northbridge and trailing Grafton and Tantasqua, who are both undefeated at 4-0 in league play. Nipmuc has been in double figures in each of its three wins, beating Shepherd Hill 10-7 on the road, knocking off St. Bernard's 10-6 at home, and earning a 12-8 win at Doherty.
Heading into the heart of their season, Nipmuc boys host Wachusett on April 19, Grafton on April 24 and Worcester Combined on April 26. They play at Shrewsbury on April 21 and St. Bernard Fitchburg on April 30.
In girls' LAX, Nipmuc started the season 3-2, and sits second in the Mid Mass standings with a 2-1 league record. Grafton is also 2-1 while Tantasqua holds the top spot with a 3-0 league mark. Like the boys, the Nipmuc Regional High School girls have been in double figures for each of their victories. The Warriors beat Grafton 13-10, St. Bernard's 11-6, and crushed Doherty 19-4.
The upcoming games for the Nipmuc girls LAX include away games at Wachusett on April 19, Grafton on April 24 and Doherty Worcester on April 26. Home games include Shrewsbury on April 21, Algonquin April 28 and St. Bernard's on April 30.
