Nipmuc Youth Football & Cheerleading Wrap-Up
Submitted · December 21, 2010
What a way to end a great football season and send three Cheerleading squads onto Regional competition. On Sunday, November 7 the NIPMUC Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization hosted a Pep Rally at Miscoe Middle School. Their own Chris Behrikis served as Master of Ceremonies and DJ for the fun filled afternoon.
Behrikis introduced each team football coach and had him talk about the team's exciting season. A number of teams entered into playoffs.
Coaches Lauren Montenagro and Sangita Tamborra lead the cheerleader rally. Each squad was introduced and entertained the packed gym with their winning routines and dances.
Parent Merchandise Volunteers, Lynn Barbozza and Marcy Verrone, had tables filled with Warrior gear for sale and commented that many purchases were made for the upcoming holiday season.
Families were very generous with donations for the Mendon and Upton food pantries. Two very large boxes were overflowing with canned goods to help out with the food collection for the two towns.
Congratulations to three of the cheerleading squads: Pee Wees, coached by Cheryl Spindel; Jr Midgets, coached by Lisa Columbo; and Midgets, coached by Christine Comfort. The squads placed first, second and third respectively in the local competition held in Lowell and went onto the Regionals in Hartford. The Midgets placed at the Regionals and are heading to Florida for the National competition. Congratulations to all of the girls for a great season.
