Hack Claims Another State Title

Nipmuc senior Kevin Hack made it three state titles in a row when he claimed the Division 4 crown again for the 2015-2016 winter season.
"It was terrific," Warriors' head coach Richard Auger said. "Three titles in a row is a really impressive accomplishment. He has been able to do it the past couple of years and we were happy to see it continue."
The championship was a bright spot in what otherwise might be termed a disappointing winter for Hack when compared with his own lofty standards. He finished second at the all-state meet, jumping 6'4" — four inches short of his career-best of 6'8".
Hack wrapped up the year with a seventh place finish at the New England meet after finishing second in the high jump last year.
"Kevin has been so impressive with everything he has done since he was a sophomore, you never really know what to expect," Auger said. "This was a tough year for him, I know he was disappointed in himself, but you have to move on and get ready for spring track. Hopefully, we will pinpoint what's been going on and fix."
Even with a disappointing winter, Hack was still able to add the third straight title to his resume and continue to rank among the best high jumpers in the region.
As a team, Nipmuc finished the dual meet season with a 5-3 record. The Warriors ended the campaign on a high note, scoring wins over St. Peter-Marian and Douglas in mid January to close out the regular season.
Nipmuc posted a 2-3 record in Dual Valley League meets, finishing third in the league standings behind Blackstone-Millville and Sutton, and in a tie with Hopedale and Douglas.
