Thirteen candidates had pulled nomination papers for Upton’s Annual Town Election as of February 24.
The election will take place on Tuesday, May 10, at the Nipmuc Regional High School Gymnasium. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Current Select Board Chair Maureen Dwinnell has pulled papers for her seat. Laura Hebb also pulled papers for Select Board.
Besides Hebb, the only nonincumbent who has pulled nomination papers is Gary Daugherty, for the currently vacant two-year Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds seat.
Incumbents who have pulled papers, besides Dwinnell, are David Loeper for Moderator; William Taylor for Assessors of Taxes; Glenn Fowler for Cemetery Commission; Stedman Briggs Jr. for Board of Health; Richard Porter for Recreation Committee; Judith Katz-Goodman for Trustees of Public Library; Margaret Carroll for Planning Board; Robert Fleming for the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds three-year seat; and Steven Driver and Michael G. Moran for Constable.
Dorothy Scally for Mendon Upton Regional School District (MURSD), Michelle Antinarelli and Anne O’Brien for Trustees of Public Library, and James Bates Jr. for Constable, all incumbents in those respective position, had not pulled papers as of February 24.
Currently vacant seats open for the upcoming election are a one-year seat on the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds and two Constable seats.
Nomination papers are available from the Town Clerk’s office until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 18, and must be submitted to Registrars of Voters by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, for certification of names. The deadline to file certified papers with the Town Clerk’s office is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.
