The February 15 deadline to submit completed nomination papers and signatures to the Town Clerk’s office has passed, and the slate of candidates for Milford’s Annual Town Election is nearly final.

The election will be held on Tuesday, April 15. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Candidates may withdraw their nominations from the Town Clerk’s office until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3.

While Select Board Chair Michael K. Walsh and Board of Health Chairman Paul Mazzuchelli are running unopposed for their seats, several other races will be more closely contested.

Four people – Robyn B. Bratica, incumbent John Erickson, RJ Sheedy, and Derrick Sobers – all returned nomination papers for two open seats on the School Committee. Sheedy was appointed to fill an open seat last year; if elected, this would be his first full term on the Committee.

Incumbent Paul Pellegrini, currently Chairman of the Park Commissioners, is not running this year, but three candidates will compete for his open seat. David W. Brutsch, Scott J. Crisafulli, and Charles E. Reneau turned in their nomination papers

Richard J. Cenedella, incumbent on the Sewer Commissioners, will run again for his seat. Leonardo L. Marcone is running for the Sewer Commissioners one-year term left by the departure of Thomas Morelli on June 25, 2021. Morelli’s seat carries an expiration of April 30, 2023.

John (Ted) E. DePaolo Jr. and Jose M. Morais are competing for the open Planning Board seat currently held by John H. Cook, who is not running this year.

Joseph Arcudi is not running for his seat on the Board of Assessors. Paul Simas has returned nominations for Arcudi’s three-year seat, while Steven L. Borges is running for a one-year unexpired term.

Arcudi is also not seeking re-election as Constable. Incumbents Nadine E. Ladeau, Raymond G. Pagucci Jr., and Mark L. Calzolaio all submitted papers for their positions as Constable. Robert Sheedy is also on the ballot for Constable, and there is one additional open seat.

Frederick Elliott and incumbent Kristen Gardner are seeking two available seats on the Trustees of Vernon Grove Cemetery. There is also a one-year unexpired term opening.

Stephanie Abisla, who is an incumbent, and Sarah Moazeni are running for two open seats on the Board of Library Trustees.

Though there were eight total open seats for Town Meeting Members, only Alexis AC Forgit returned nomination papers. Forgit is running for a three-year term in Precinct 5.
